In light of the rapidly worsening COVID-19 global health crisis, we are calling off the 6pm street sings. Please read below:
It’s becoming clear that “6 foot distance” guidelines aren't enough to stem the exponential spread of this deadly virus. Gatherings of any size put us all at unacceptable risk. Seeing where Italy, France, and the San Francisco area are now, we need to intensify our resolve and effort to enforce physical distancing.
We join with the MA city and state officials calling on Governor Baker to order statewide Shelter In Place, without delay.
This important article might be more data than you can take in, but it points to hard truths about why every day counts in a pandemic. Also this: "Social Distancing: This is Not a Snow Day." Asaf Bitton, MD, MPH
Starting 3/18/20, the 6pm street sing is a 6pm indoor online sing. SING IN PLACE!
Let's use this as a way to connect and check in every day with your nearby neighbors. You can use FaceTime, Zoom, Facebook Live, or even an ordinary phone call. You can of course also include friends and family who are further away. Please self-organize with your neighbors to do this.
We will continue to post the song of the day each day, and maintain the list of suggested songs, available to all here. Please encourage your immediate community to continue The 6pm SING IN PLACE. We need each other and we need connectedness to maintain hope in these difficult days ahead.
